Last week on Thursday 4th May we held our fifth volunteer induction of 2017 at the GSPCA and saw another packed room of 12 new helpers keen to learn how they can get involved with us here at the Animal Shelter adding to the 77 inducted this year taking this years inducted volunteers to a total of 89 not including others that have helped from businesses, groups and other organisations.

The induction took place just after 6.30pm with GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne talking to the group about who we are, what we do, the ways volunteers can help and an induction of how to help safely to all 12 new volunteers who were aged from 13 years upwards.

Although volunteering at the Animal Shelter starts at 13 for those under 13 they are always welcome to attend and get involved with events and fund raising.

At the end of the induction many set dates and times to start and the first new volunteers have already started helping at the Shelter. and with our biggest fund raiser only 2 weeks away on the 28th May which is our Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday we are alway looking for help to raise funds for animals in Guernsey.

Of those attending they were looking to help from cleaning kennels to socialising cats, 5 Duke of Edinburgh placements to 1 work experience to prepare for their placement at the GSPCA, fund raising volunteers, reception and charity shop volunteers, those through Social Security for placements to those helping where ever they can.

At the end of the evening all were given a certificate of attendance and a pack of information including a hand book.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We are so lucky at the GSPCA to have so many amazing volunteers that help us around the clock 7 days a week."

"Once again it was fantastic to see so many new faces keen to help and most are starting over the next few days."

"A huge thank you to all for coming last week as well as many parents who enjoyed learning about our work."

"A warm welcome and thanks for coming from all at the GSPCA to Jude, Luke, Allison, Hannah, Lauren, Natalija, Charlotte, Eva, Emily, Karen, Paul and Bradley."

"We hold regular volunteer inductions for those interested in getting involved with the next set for Tuesday 23rd May at 6.30pm."

"For anyone interested in volunteering or helping please visit http://gspca.org.gg/about/volunteers or call 257261 for more information."

"Every week we see over 120 volunteers and they help us cover the 24/7 work we carry out 365 days a year, but with over 400 animals in our care there is plenty to do and we are always keen to get those interested involved with the work we do helping thousands of animals every year in Guernsey."

"We regularly see in excess of 50 Duke of Edinburgh placements each week as well as many on back to work schemes, students and other placements from a variety of organisations and we are always happy to help where we can and really appreciate the support for the work we carry out 24/7."

"With our Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday on the 28th May we have set an extra volunteer induction for those looking to help."

The upcoming volunteer inductions are set for -
