On Sunday 6th November the GSPCA grounds was filled with Beavers and volunteers helping prepare for the Spring.

The 4th Guernsey Beavers joined volunteers from the RSPB and St Andrews Floral Group to help plant hundreds of bulbs at the Animal Shelter in St Andrews.

The 6 Beavers with a number of parents and volunteers planted the many daffodil and crocus bulbs which will help brighten the grounds when Spring arrives.

After their morning of digging and planting GSPCA staff Beckie Smith and Sarah Langlois gave the group a tour of some of the facilities and they got to meet some of the hedgehogs in our care.

Ann Wragg from St Andrews Floral Group said "We were delighted that group of the 4th Guernsey Beavers came along with their Parents to help the St Andrew’s Floral Group plant bulbs next to the picnic area."

"Around 350 Daffodils bulbs were planted and 500 Crocus bulbs, which are to highlight the Rotary Club ‘ "End Polio now Campaign”."

"These will add a wonderful splash of colour in Spring and complement the new-look pond area which will be completed shortly."

"Other Community groups are planting more bulbs including a team from Specsavers.”

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "Thanks to St Andrews Floral Group the Shelter grounds has been and continues to be much improved for visitors and wildlife and we are all looking forward to the Spring flowers next year."

"A huge thank you to the 4th Guernsey Beavers, RSPB and all involved with the planting it is really appreciated."

Beckie Smith GSPCA Animal Care Assistant said "We really enjoyed showing the Beavers the animals at the GSPCA and they all seemed to really enjoy meeting all of the hedgehogs."

"They were a lovely group and thank you for all of their help."
