The GSPCA are extremely pleased to announce that Sami the grey seal pup rescued in Jersey by the JSPCA and British Divers Marine Life Rescue after months of care is ready to go back to where she belongs.

The GSPCA have been in discussions with the Jersey authorities to see if Sami could be released in the waters near to where she was found and we are overjoyed to announce that the we have permission for the first ever pan island rescued and rehabilitated grey seal pup is allowed to be released back into Jersey waters.

The GSPCA are currently appealing for help of a boat to transport Sami, a number of the GSPCA team and potentially a number of the media to the Écréhous so Sami can be released in a safe area away from built up areas and close to where her family might be located.

If anyone owns a boat that can help or we have had a kind offer that would cost £500 to take her there then please do get in touch by calling 257261, email [email protected] or donate by visiting https://www.paypal.me/DonateGSPCA

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We are so excited to announce that Sami the seal pup is ready to be released back in the waters where she was found only days after Christmas so close to death."

"It has been an amazing pan island operation to rescue and care for Sami and we are now appealing for help to transport her by boat to the Écréhous where it would be ideal for a seal release close to Jersey."

"If someone hasn't got a boat but could donate in excess of £500 we have had a very kind offer to take her there and would happily take the individual with us."

"We really hope someone will be kind enough to help Sami the seal at the GSPCA get back to Jersey waters where she belongs."
