Charles arrived at the GSPCA at the end of April as his owner could no longer care for him.

Guinea pigs are thankfully found homes quite quickly from the GSPCA and last Monday Charles found a loving new home.

Lisa Le Poidevin new owner said last week “Charles has settled in quite well.”

“He seems a bit nervous when it's cuddle time but with some hay or a treat around he relaxes again “

“I'm still just swapping my piggy Toffee's hay with his and they both seem happy enough with the new smells.”

And this weeks update “I decided my piggy Toffee wanted to meet Charles as Charles seemed content and settled in well.”

“It was a bit scary but after a few hours they seemed happy enough so they went in the cage together.”

“By the next day they looked like best buddies.”

“They were sharing the food bowls.”

Beckie Bailey GSPCA Animal Care Assistant said “It is so wonderful to hear that Charles is doing so well in his new home.”

“Guinea pigs are amazing animals but they really need friends as they are communal animals.”

“This has to be done carefully and there are lots of things to consider and we are always here for advice.”

We have a few guinea pigs looking for homes at the GSPCA and loads of rabbits and other small animals.”

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Of the 500+ animals in our care we have over 20 reptiles in need of homes, over 20 rabbits, 10 cats ready for homes, a selection of birds and then a wide variety of small rodents, fish, dogs, ferrets, guinea pigs and others in need.”

“To see some of the animals in need of homes please visit http://www.gspca.org.gg/animals but its always best to contact us or pop in between 11am and 4pm to find out what animals are in need of loving new homes.”

“A huge thanks to Lisa for giving Charles a loving new home.”
