The GSPCA are extremely excited to announce this New Post being advertised, working in partnership to help the community.

The GSPCA Community & Training Officer is a unique role designed to not only set up the first ever Animal Care NVQ's in Guernsey, it is also a post to help benefit a greater number of placements through Social Security and increase their skills amongst other challenges.

This post is initially a one year role with the hope that its success will result in becoming a permanent position. The post is thanks to funding from Social Security and States Street to set up training programs to meet the needs of placement holders as well as staff and volunteers at the GSPCA and to set up and run NVQ Animal Care Qualifications working with Guernsey College of Further Education.

This is a first in the history of the GSPCA and this very exciting post will help provide Guernsey with the first ever animal care City & Guilds course and benefit the community in many ways.

This post is to primarily co-ordinate, lead and supervise work-related activities with participants working with the GSPCA from the Social Security Work to Benefit (W2B) Scheme. This post seeks to meet the requirements of the GSPCAs Service Level Agreement with Social Security and to achieve the Client’s aims and objectives as defined in their strategy document. Working in partnership with Social Security in respect of creating work and training opportunities aimed at upskilling workers in a way that matches the needs of future employers.

The successful applicant will work closely with Social Security, GSPCA volunteers, staff and providers to maximise the number of placements and ensure the participants continual development. Establish and maintain good customer care and relations and to undertake and complete all relevant administrative procedures in accordance with prescribed practice. Work closely with the team at the GSPCA to strive in the aims and objectives of the Society and to actively engage with the community and training providers.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "At the GSPCA we have been working extremely closely with Social Security for a number of years helping provide placements and those seeking employmnet with new skills."

"With over 100 individuals having already benefited with time at the GSPCA we have teamed up further and are excited to advertise a post for the first ever GSPCA Community & Training Officer."

"This is truly an exciting position that will help benefit the community in many ways and the lucky candidate will also set up and run the first ever Animal Care NVQ's in Guernsey."

"We are so grateful to those that have helped fund this project and also to Guernsey College of FE who will be helping us set up the NVQ's."

"The role is very much an education and people skilled role working with all levels of the community and as such needs skills and experience to teach, coach and support those coming to us from all walks of life."

"Applications are available on our website or at the GSPCA and we are very much looking forward in finding an outstanding individual to fill this exciting role."
