Tonight the Petplan and the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH) hold their seventh Animal Charity Awards. The awards celebrate the outstanding work of staff and volunteers in animal charities and not-for-profit organisations across the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands.

The team at the GSPCA are very excited that Beckie Bailey GSPCA Animal Care Assistant and all round star for the Shelter from nearly 5000 nominations is one of three finalists for the Animal Charity Employee of the Year.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We are all very excited for Beckie tonight and we all have our fingers crossed for her.”

“All of the team, volunteers and our supporters would all agree that Beckie is an amazing team member and we know no matter the result that Beckie is a true star and will really enjoy the awards.”

Beckie Bailey GSPCA Animal Care Assistant said “I really can’t believe I’ve been shortlisted for these amazing awards.”

“I was so shocked when I had the phone call I really didn’t know what to say.”

“I really love my job and working with the animals and really looking forward to the awards night.”

Steve continued "We have a wonderful caring team of 30 paid staff and over 80 active volunteers and help over 3000 animals a year and we are all wishing Beckie good luck for the ADCH and Petplan Awards."

“Incredibly this is the third time we have had a member of our team as a finalist in these awards having had Yvonne Chauvel and Geoff George reaching the final also in the last few years which for the size charity we are in comparison to so many others is very humbling for the whole team at the GSPCA.”

“Tonight we will find out the results as it all takes place in Birmingham at the ADCH Conference and Awards evening in front of 500 animal professionals and volunteers.”

"We will all course keep everyone up to date on how Beckie gets on at the awards evening later this month."
