Last week the GSPCA warned of the dangers of the stormy weather and sadly two orphaned grey seal pups were the result.

On Saturday the GSPCA had a report of a seal pup hauled up between Fort Doyle and La Fontenelle Bay, so Geoff George headed out to check out what had been seen with his partner Dani Brouard.

The 6 week old seal pup was found dehydrated and at only 25kgs, 15kgs under her ideal weight.

The pup has been called Luna C and is now under the 24/7 care of Geoff George Head of Marine Mammals and the GSPCA team.

Luna C joined Aurora and Eliza who were recently rescued from Jersey and also Pork Pie and Titan who are soon to be released.

When we think we have enough for a 5-a-side team on Sunday we had another call this time for a very poorly pup in Herm.

A family in Herm spotted the pup and thanks to the Herm Trident and all involved the tiny grey seal pup, this one named Jagho Herman and an extremely thin at only 15kgs was transported to Guernsey.

GSPCA team members Matt Le Noury and Nicolle Morgan were on call to collect the pup from the dock.

At only 4 weeks old Jagho Herman is emaciated and has multiple health problems and is under intensive care at the GSPCA.

Geoff George said “What a weekend we have had at the GSPCA rescuing a further 2 seal pups adding to the 4 we have in our care.”

“Both seal pups need around the clock care.”

“Luna C is very thin but doing well who we rescued at Fort Doyle on Saturday.”

“Jagho Herman is very poorly at only 15kgs and is on treatment for a number of ailments.”

“We are pleased to say Eliza and Aurora are doing well and have progressed on to the rehabilitation pools and a real positive note Titan and Porkpie are ready to be released but we are looking for a good window in the weather before we let them go to give them the best chance.”

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “With 6 grey seal pups in our care Geoff and the team have the most seals we have had in a long while.”

“A healthy seal pup should be around 40kgs so Jagho Herman at 15kgs is really worrying as is Luna C at 25kgs.”

"Huge thanks to Herm Trident and all involved with the seal pups rescue, please remember these are wild animals and not to approach them and to always stay well back and give us a call."

“They have a long road to recovery and we are doing all we can to help the 4 new poorly seal pups.”

“This time of year we see seal pups being born around the Channel Islands but it is extremely important to leave them alone and not approach as you can scare their mother away.”

“If you see a seal pup please do give us a call on 257261 or send a few pictures via our facebook or [email protected] so we can monitor them.”

“For advice on what to do and how to identify a sick seal pup check out our advice page http://www.gspca.org.gg/animal/seal-advice

“There are many ways you can help support our vital 24/7 work and donate or raise funds for the hundreds of animals in our care.”

“With over 100 hedgehogs, 6 seal pups, dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, fish, reptiles and many birds we help over 3000 animals through the doors every year.”

“If you would like to support our Amazon Wish List and see lists of items that we use every day and things that we are appealing for.”

“If would like to help with wish list items you can call us on 01481 25721 or email [email protected] or the easy way to see many items we are in need  is by going to our Amazon Wish List https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/25MJPPDAGXHL1?type=WishList .”

“We do promote buying items locally but shopping online can help raise funds at the same time as if you select the GSPCA through easy fund raising part of the amount through 1000’s of online retailers comes back to the GSPCA and it has raised over £2500.”

“To sign up to do this please visit http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/guernseyspca/?u=1CHID8 .”

“Sadly Amazon Smile doesn’t allow Guernsey charities to sign up but you can go through easy fund raising to achieve the same donation.”

“As mentioned you can always chose to donate via local stores and the Amazon Wish List is a shop front showing some of the items we need but there are many others and we have published these on our Wish List page http://www.gspca.org.gg/about/our-plans-wish-list .”

“A gift of a tiny bowl costing less than a £1 to a £600 intensive care unit, every donation is hugely appreciated and really makes the team smile that there are those that care and want to support our work.”

“Another amazing way to support our work is by just a couple of pounds each month can make a massive difference in helping the animals in our care and to find out more please go to http://www.gspca.org.gg/sites/default/files/Angel%20sponsor%20form%20special%202018%20new.pdf .”

“To make a donation you can go to https://giving.gg/donate/charity/2/Guernsey-Society-for-the-Prevention-of-Cruelty-to-Animals-(GSPCA) .”

“We couldn’t do so much without your support.”
