This Thursday coming on the 4th October is World Animal Day and the GSPCA is asking for everyone to think about raising funds for animals in Guernsey.

The are many ways you could raise funds from having a dress down day at work or school, a cake sale, sponsored silence and many more which you can see on our fund raising page - http://www.gspca.org.gg/fundraising

Another way you can help the Shelter is to collect animal feed as we are always looking for donations of animal feed for the 250+ animals we have in our carefrom birds to hedgehogs, hamsters to ferrets, birds to rabbits and of course dogs and cats.

If you would like to give regularly or join the GSPCA there are links below.

There are many ways to help Animals this World Animal Day and we hope no matter what you do the money you give can help save animals here in Guernsey.

We are also holding an event on Thursday at the Shelter between 11am and 4pm with Free Microchipping, Tours, Table Sale, Tea, Coffee & Cake
and here are the details -

Next Thursday is World Animal Day and to celebrate the Animal Shelter will be holding an open day and free microchipping at the Shelter.

From 11am to 4pm on the 4th October the Shelter will be opening the doors for members of public to pop in to shop around our animal supplies, bric-a-brac we have on sale, other donated items such as games, toys, GSPCA key rings, mugs, polo shirts, jumpers, fridge magnets, engraved animal tags and much more.

There will be a seating area where we will be selling tea, coffee and pop as well as a selection of cakes, sweets and crisps.

At 11.30am, 2pm and 3pm there will be guided tours around the Shelter for a donation for those interested.

If your dog or cat isn't microchipped then this can be done for free with no appointment needed but we are asking for a donation to help the many animals in our care at the GSPCA.  We do ask that cats are brought in secure baskets and dogs are kept on leads.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said 'The Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday earlier this month was a fantastic event and showed how much people in Guernsey loved animals and we are so grateful to all those that got involved and helped.'  'World Animal Day is only a week away and this event is a small way to help animals in Guernsey as we see only 1 in 3 dogs and cats coming into the Shelter as strays being microchipped.'  'Microchipping is only £4.99 at the Shelter and at Guernsey Animal Aid but the last free event we held was a fantastic success and we are inviting those owners of dogs and cats that aren't done to pop in next Thursday to ensure their loved pet has a better chance of being reunite with them if they go missing.'

If you would like to volunteer on the day, help or would like more details then either email [email protected] call the GSPCA on 01481 257261 or pop in to the Shelter in St Andrews.

We look forward seeing you next Thursday.
