On Monday the 3rd May the GSPCA team and St Andrews Floral Group were joined by 5 volunteers from  Northern Trust who gave up a day in the office to help the team paint, decorate and other work at the Animal Shelter in St Andrews.

Over the last three years 128 hands from Northern Trust have helped out at the GSPCA, with 38 staff helping in 2014 and a further 26 helping in 2015 and on Monday we had the first of three groups helping in 2016 to add to the list.

The 4 that came along on Monday arrived clean and ready to help and by the end of the day weren't quite so smart after all of their hard work.

Sharon Latter, Claire Field, Mary De Garis and Ben Foote helped volunteers from St Andrews Floral Group with a multitude of tasks improving the grounds of the Animal Shelter and helping with the conservation work.

From helping dig over areas to planting it was a lovely sunny day and we are hugely grateful to all of their hard work.

After a hard days work GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne took the team from Northern Trust for a guided tour where they saw Olivia the loggerhead turtle, Bonnie the seal pup and many of the other 350 animals at the GSPCA.

Before the group left and after the tour the team got a thank you certificate for all of their hard work.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "Once again I can only say that the staff from Northern Trust are truly amazing and we really, really do appreciate all of their support and help."

"The team from St Andrews Floral Group headed by Ann Wragg and all at the GSPCA really enjoyed the Northern Trust staff helping out and we are extremely grateful for all of their help."

"One of the big jogs they undertook you can see as soon as you arrive at the Shelter as they have planted a stunning bank in front of you as you drive in."

"Since 2014 we have now had 136 hands come to help from Northern Trust with a total of 68 staff and we look forward to others helping later this year."

"We are so lucky to have caring businesses in Guernsey like Northern Trust that allow their staff to help in the community."

"We always love to hear from businesses that would like to help us help the animals and community of Guernsey and there are many ways getting involved from CSR programmes to sponsoring animals in our care."

"We can even run bespoke events such as guided tours for your team and their families."

"Our biggest day of the year is coming up and maybe staff from you team would like to dress up as a giant animal for our Mascot 5-a-side at our Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday."

"From all at the GSPCA a huge thank you to all at Northern Trust."
