The GSPCA are delighted to announce our first volunteer induction of 2019 a huge success with 21 new volunteers attending and the first two made a start today.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We had a fantastic night on Monday and inducted 21 new volunteers all wanting to help out at the GSPCA."

"Last year through the volunteer inductions we greeted and trained 189 volunteers not to mention 100's more through other placements, voluntourists and groups."

“Two of the new volunteers started today and they helped care for the 500 animals at the GSPCA and the others start over the coming weeks.”

“11 are looking to start their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh placements this weekend and the others are looking to help with gardening, our charity shop, fund raising and in many other ways.”

“We are looking forward getting all of the volunteers involved and a huge thanks to all that attended.”

“Our next induction will be on Monday 4th February at 6.30pm and all are welcome.”

"There is no need to book a place just turn up and we can get you involved with our work helping animals and the community."

"From the charity shop to the animals, events to admin, gardening to our ambulance there is something for everyone."

You need to be at least 13 years old to help at the Shelter.  If you are younger then you could still help.  If you talk to your parents or guardians they may help you with fund raising for the Animal Shelter.

To get started in Volunteering at the GSPCA we hold Induction Evenings and in the Summer Afternoons and no matter your age there is always a way you can help.

If you are looking to complete your work experience, Duke of Edinburgh or similar placement it is a requirement to attend one of these sessions to arrange a start date and complete the induction.

We are especially looking for volunteers to help with our grounds and conservation work, driving our ambulance on the weekends and to help in our charity shop.

The Volunteer Induction Evenings planned for 2019 will take place on the following days and times in the Event and Training Room at the GSPCA, but please do call 257261 closer to the date to confirm it is taking place. Inductions take about 90 minutes to 2 hours depending on numbers.

When you arrive to attend please follow the paw prints at the front of reception which will take you to the upper floor where the sessions are held. It is ramped access and any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
