The GSPCA would like to say a huge thank you to the Guernsey Fire Service on this International Fire Fighter Day.

The GSPCA and the Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service are called on to work very closely in a number of circumstances from large animal rescues to pets trapped in house fires.

When ever called upon day or night the GSPCA are there when to assist our wonderful Fire and Rescue Service where needed to help.

Only this weekend have we had the need to thank the Guernsey Fire Service who helped once again put up our large banners on Smith Street advertising the GSPCA Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday which takes place on the 15th May.

The Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service have also confirmed all being well that a number of their team with one of their vehicles will attend the Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday on the 15th May to talk to the public about their work.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager "From working with the Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service rescuing animals to talking about issues with fireworks we are hugely thankful at the GSPCA to the Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service for the wonderful relationship we have helping animals in need in Guernsey."

"The Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service also support us in many other ways and we meet to discuss best practice."

"On Sunday the Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service helped put up our Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday banners in Smith Street which will help advertise the biggest day in the GSPCA calendar."

"We are also looking forward seeing them on the day itself which is always popular with everyone young and old."

"We hope the Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service have a fantastic International Fire Fighters day and thank you for the wonderful work you carry out around the clock 24 7."

Win a chance to see Bonnie the grey seal pup to be released back to the wild - http://www.gspca.org.gg/blog/win-chance-see-bonnie-grey-seal-pup-being-released-back-wild-donating-her-final-fattening-appea

The winner will be chosen at random on the 15th May at our Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday.

We need to get at least another 12kg or more on her to be fit enough for the wild and we are hoping this competition will help raise the funds to get that final weight on her and help with the care that she has had at the GSPCA.

The winner will be chosen just after 3pm at Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday on the 15th May.
