This afternoon the team at the GSPCA took a rather different delivery.

Olivia who is improving each day needs to soon be placed in a pool or tank and today Mickey and Dean from Spa De La Mare arrived with a hot tub to do the job.

Likely the only Animal Shelter across the UK and Channel Islands to have a hot tub on site the 3m square pool is in a section of the new multi purpose animal welfare building.

It will likely be next week when we look to place Olivia in the large heated pool thanks to Spa De La Mare when she is a little stronger.

All this week she has been drinking on her own and showing increase signs of movement.

Tomorrow morning head carer for Olivia Geoff George will attempt to provide her with her first liquid feed which is likely the first food she has consumed for over a month.

Being cold blooded we couldn't feed her as soon as she arrived as she needed to be warmed slowly and re-hydrated as well as receiving a series of treatments and drips.

Geoff George GSPCA Animal Collection Officer and head carer said "Olivia grows in strength day by day and tomorrow we are hoping she will take her first liquid feed."

"As she gets stronger in the next few days we will look to get her in the hot tub kindly supplied by Spa De La Mare who we are so grateful too."

"It was a challenge getting the hot tub into the new build but we did it and hope to have it up and running early next week."

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "A huge thank you to Mickey and Dean from Spa De La Mare who supplied and helped fit the hot tub ready for Olivia next week."

"It is a slow process but it is wonderful every time we see Olivia do something new and hopefully tomorrow she will take some liquid feed with Geoff and next week she can have a dip in the hot tub."

"I don't know of another Shelter with a hot tub on site and we are all looking forward getting Olivia into some warm water for a swim to see how she does."

"After Mickey and Dean had kindly delivered the hot tub, Geoff and I introduced them to Olivia who took a drink in front of them."

"A massive thanks to Spa De La Mare who provided the hot tub and helped us carry it to where it is on site today."

"Also thank you to our volunteer Matt Hill-Smith for helping Geoff , Dean, Mickey and I carry the hot tub to where it is."

"We continue to appeal for donations towards her care as well as Bonnie the seal and the 300 other animals at the GSPCA."
