Recently we put out an appeal for volunteers to knit mice for the many cats we have at the Shelter as strays, looking for homes and also in for welfare reasons.Knitted cat mice thank you

We had a fantastic response and within days handed out dozens of patterns and since received hundreds of mice that have been hand made and now entertain the cats and kittens we have at the Shelter.

A thank you must go to all those that have worked so hard making these fun little toys but a special mention must go to Mrs Joy Nicolle.  Joy over the past  has knitted hundreds of teddies for children in Haiti and when she heard that cats in Guernsey needed something to fill their day she didn’t waste a moment and got to the much needed task.

Joy who is 76 years old has now made so many mice we have lost count and made dozens of the GSPCA cats very happy felines at what is a very busy time of year as we have more kittens and stray cats than we have had since the start of 2012.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said ‘We are so grateful to Joy and all those that have made and donated the many mice we have at the Shelter and continue to make them.’  ‘Without warm hearted, kind supporters like Joy the GSPCA wouldn’t be able to exist as it’s through kind donations and people giving up their time that we are able to care for thousands of animals every year.’  ‘We would like to say a very special thank you to Joy and more importantly the cats at the Shelter thank her for her purrrrrfect presents.’
