Yesterday we held our Santa Paws Dog Walk in Saumarez Park.

We would like to thank all that attended and it was wonderful to see so many happy dogs dressed to celebrate the festive season.

Over a dozen dogs supported the event which was sponsored by the Saumarez Park Tea Rooms.

We had a stall with a selection of goods and tombolas and with this and the walk proceeds to date have raised over £200.

The walk took place around the park with GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne and then 6 year old Joseph Fox from St Martins Primary School judged the fancy dress.

Bramble the cocker spaniel with his owner Susan Trimbee-Lane won first prize which was a family meal at the Tea Rooms and second prize was Coby the staffi with Jason and Donna Rostron who was adopted from the GSPCA and the owners won a lovely bottle of prosecco and a cake.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "This is the second year we have run the Santa Paws Dog Walk and the first time we've held it at Saumarez Park."

"We would like to say a huge thank you to the Saumarez Park Tea Rooms for their wonderful support and to all that helped and took part."

"It was fantastic to see so many happy dogs in festive dress."

"One of the puppies taking part was Stan now named Louis a French bulldog, who is one of the 25 Slovakian puppies rescued earlier this year and he is looking extremely well."

"6 year old Joseph Fox judged the fancy dress and chose Bramble the cocker spaniel for first place and Coby the staffi in second."

"All of the dogs looked great and a huge thank you to everyone involved from all at the GSPCA."

We are already planning our events for 2016 and we will likely have our annual Easter Dog Walk in March or April, so please watch this space.
