This Sunday gone volunteers led by Corrine  Connoly organised a sponsored dog walk which was also led by Corinne’s dog Sidney.

The route which was just under 5 miles went from Grandes Roques up to Pembroke Bay.  Despite the weather over 20 volunteers and participants took part with over a dozen dogs that also helped with stewarding and taking part in the walk.

The weather with high winds and wet at times proved chilly and cold so many of the dogs wore coats to keep them warm and dry as well as their handlers with Sidney sporting a very nice flying jacket.

Plenty of poo bags were on hand from the Pet Cabin who had donated them as well as lots of treats.

The day raised over £1010 with more possibly due in and all proceeds will go to the GSPCA & Woodlands Farm Kennels (RSPCA - Sidney's previous home in Bridport).

Certificates of thanks were handed to those that took part and we are all very grateful to those that braved the weather.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager and one of the stewards on the day with his dog Katie said ‘It was very windy and wet at times but we are so grateful to all those that took part.’  ‘A special mention must go to Corrine, her husband Paul and of course their dog Sidney that did so much work to organise it.’  ‘We got to meet some wonderful volunteers that helped ensure everyone’s safety as well as wonderful fund raisers that took part in the walk.’ ‘It is only through donations and fund raising activities like this that we are able to help so many animals every day.’

Helen Sharman GSPCA Animal Care Assistant and walker on the day said ‘The little dog I took called Toby and I nearly got blown away but it was a good afternoon.’  ‘I think we all raised lots of money which will help the animals at the Shelter.’

A huge thanks to all that took part, the GSPCA are very grateful to everyone.
