Submitted by GSPCA on 18:19, 14th Nov, 2012 | 0

The Association of Guernsey Charities announced at the end of October that tickets for the 2012 Christmas Lottery went on sale for only £1 each. The GSPCA Animal Shelter can now announce that from tomorrow they will be on sale at the GSPCA reception desk in St Andrews.  The traditional lottery always proves to be a popular choice as it offers the chance of winning a large sum of money - and all the proceeds are given to Channel Island charities.

As well as the GSPCA tickets are on sale at shops, stores, supermarkets, garages, and many other outlets around the island.

Felix really needs your help after more than a year in search of that forever home at the GSPCA

Submitted by GSPCA on 18:07, 13th Nov, 2012 | 0

Felix arrived at the GSPCA Animal Shelter in October in 2011 and has been at the Shelter for well over a year which makes her the longest stay cat in need of a new home. Many of you will know of Victor a cat who also came in around the same time and we are pleased to say he is off to a new home very soon.

Unfortunately Felix came in as a 3 year old semi-feral and as such was extremely nervous and timid after her bad start in life.

Remembrance Day - some tales of famous animals

Submitted by GSPCA on 10:24, 9th Nov, 2012 | 0

Every year at this time we remember the lost and fallen that have gone before us. Remembrance Day (also known as Poppy Day, Armistice Day or Veterans Day) is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth countries to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty since World War I. This day, or alternative dates, are also recognized as special days for war remembrances in many non-Commonwealth countries. Share

Only a week since the GSPCA Amazon Wish List was launched and the Shelter staff and volunteers have been in awe of all of the gifts purchased for the animals and their care.

A HUGE thank you must go to Corporate Risk Solutions, staff from Menzies Aviation, staff from the Heritage Group and also Sandra and Ken James.

These individuals have helped the Shelter purchase additional scales which are vital for weighing animals on entry and during their stay as well as many animal toys and feed for the hundreds in the GSPCA care.

Appeal for information - 32 Budgies Stolen

Submitted by GSPCA on 10:00, 6th Nov, 2012 | 0

It has been reported to the GSPCA that in the last few days 32 budgies have stolen.

The GSPCA is asking if anyone has any information to please get in touch with the police as soon as possible.

Many of the birds were bred by the owner and he is understandably very upset.  As well as the birds some seed also went missing and if anyone saw anything suspicious in the Bailiffs Cross Road area or knows of anyone with an influx of these pretty caged birds you can contact the police on 725111.
