On Sunday we held our final Dog First Aid Course of 2014.

We have held many animal care course for the first time this year and we have been overwhelmed by the attendance and also the gratitude from those attending.

Despite the sun shining 6 local dog owners Lynne, Ginny, Derryn, Agnieske, Richard and Stephanie arrived at 9.30am at the GSPCA where GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne went through the principals of first aid and how to care for dogs during an emergency situation.

On Wednesday 12th November at 630pm we are holding our second training session for Pet Bereavement for Pet Professionals and Volunteers although it is open to anyone who would like to attend.

There is a minimum donation of £10 to attend and it takes place at the Shelter. Speakers include GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne and also staff from the Guernsey Bereavement Service.

Whether you work at the vets or a pet store, you are a teacher or pet owner the session is an excellent way to learn about communicating with others during Pet Bereavement.

At the GSPCA we feel education has a huge part to play in the world we live and knowing what to do whether helping at the GSPCA, at home or in your work place is extremely important.

This Wednesday we have a Volunteer Induction Evening. If you are interested in helping the GSPCA then we ask for you to pop along at 6.30pm to find out about the GSPCA and a short safety induction.  The evening takes around 90 minutes and is at the Animal Shelter in St Andrews.
