Yesterday was the GSPCA Summer Fayre and Fun Dog Show at Fairfields.

With over 200 dogs, over a 1000 visitors and a very sunny day a fantastic time was had with a lot of fun and some stunning dogs.

The GSPCA would like to thank all the volunteers and helpers as well as all those that supported the Dog Show which was all about celebrating the dogs of Guernsey.

There were stalls and games as well as plenty of refreshments and a BBQ which was ideal for such a sunny day.

Also many of the owners and some of the dogs enjoyed an ice cream or two.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said 'We couldn't have asked for better weather and Fairfields is such a beautiful sight for a Summer Fayre.'

'It was fantastic to see so many happy people and so many wonderful dogs.'

'We really want to thank everyone that supported and helped as we raised £50 short of£2000.'

'Don't worry if you missed the dog show though as we will have another at our September Sea Front Sunday so mark the 15th in your diary.'

'A huge thanks to all the dogs and owners they are all winners in our eyes.'

The winner pictured of the Best in Show was Rachel Marwick with her dog Millie the Cocker Spaniel and was the judges favourite.  Millie will hold the Jones & Partners Ltd sponsored trophy for 2013.A special award sponsored by Peter Campbell Kitchens was also given to a young handler who showed great compassion for his dog which was wonderful to see and his name is Adam with his dog Woody.

The judge this year was Bernard the GSPCA Mascot who is also in the picture with one of the stewards, Animal Care Assistant and Dog Trainer at the Shelter Sheryl Carre.

A special award sponsored by Peter Campbell Kitchens was also given to a young handler who showed great compassion for his dog which was wonderful to see and his name is Adam with his dog Woody.

Once again thank you to everyone involved.
