This month the team at the staff and volunteers at the GSPCA have been taking part in training in Pet Bereavement thanks to the Guernsey Bereavement Service.

Sadly every day of the year staff and volunteers at the GSPCA help owners of pets that have died, whether recently or in the past and it is always hard to know if you are saying the right thing.

Recently Zoe Le Pelley from the Guernsey Bereavement Service gave interactive presentation and explained where help can be found in Guernsey and how to help those suffering from loss.

At the GSPCA we offer a Pet Cremation Service at the Animal Shelter and we are also improving our Pet Memorial Garden as we help over 1000 pet owners every year through the death of their pet.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “A huge thank you to Zoe from the Guernsey Bereavement Service for helping provide the session for the team here at the GSPCA.”

“For a number of years we have been working closely with the Guernsey Bereavement Service and we are currently looking at rolling out training for other professionals in Guernsey.”

“The team all enjoyed and took a lot from the training and from those who it was their first session to those that have had the training from Guernsey Bereavement Service it was really appreciated from all at the GSPCA.”

“Bereavement is difficult no matter the circumstances and we are so grateful to all at Guernsey Bereavement Service for all of their support for our team at the GSPCA and the community of Guernsey.”
