At the GSPCA we feel education has a huge part to play in the world we live and knowing what to do whether helping at the GSPCA, at home or in your work place is extremely important.

This Wednesday we have a Volunteer Induction Evening. If you are interested in helping the GSPCA then we ask for you to pop along at 6.30pm to find out about the GSPCA and a short safety induction.  The evening takes around 90 minutes and is at the Animal Shelter in St Andrews.

On Sunday the 2nd November we have another chance to learn all about Cat First Aid and on Sunday 9th November is Dog First Aid training.  These sessions take around 2 hours and it is a minimum donation of £15 to attend.  To find out more and book your place please click here.

On Wednesday 12th November at 630pm we are holding our second Pet Bereavement for Pet Professionals and Volunteers although it is open to anyone who would like to attend.  There is a minimum donation of £10 to attend and it takes place at the Shelter. Speakers include GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne and also staff from the Guernsey Bereavement Service.

Whether you work at the vets or a pet store, you are a teacher or pet owner the session is an excellent way to learn about communicating with others during Pet Bereavement.

Zoe Le Pelley from the Guernsey Bereavement Service said "At the Guernsey Bereavement Service we are delighted to be able to provide this training with the GSPCA for those professionals and volunteers working in the animal care industry around the Bailiwick."

"The Guernsey Bereavement Service is there to help support anyone who has loved and lost, and that includes the many pet owners who face bereavement."

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager "Everyday the team here at the GSPCA talk to those that have recently lost their pets for many reasons and it is always an emotional experience."

"Our team here at the GSPCA have had training from the Guernsey Bereavement Service and we thought by working together we could stretch out to other animal care professionals and volunteers in Guernsey that would benefit from their expertise in communicating with bereaved pet owners."

"All we are asking for is a small donation which will benefit both charities and we will provide something for those attending to take away."
