The GSPCA is delighted to announce the successful release of Iceberg Lettuce, the sixth grey seal pup to be returned to the wild this year, marking the charity’s 51st seal release over the past 15 years.

Iceberg Lettuce the Seal Pup Nearing Release After Remarkable Recovery

The GSPCA is delighted to share a heartwarming update on Iceberg Lettuce, the last seal pup in our care this season, who is now close to being released back into the wild following an incredible rehabilitation journey.

Rescued in January, Iceberg Lettuce arrived at the GSPCA in need of intensive care and round-the-clock attention. Thanks to the dedication and expertise of our team, the pup has made outstanding progress over recent months.

Icicle and Ice Ice Baby 2 Seal Pups Returned to the Wild at Portelet This Morning marks 50 released in 15 years

The GSPCA is delighted to announce another successful release of two grey seal pupsIcicle and Ice Ice Baby—back into the wild this morning at Portelet. After months of intensive care, rehabilitation and dedicated monitoring, the trio made their way into the sea just after 10.30am on what was a beautifully sunny spring morning.

Sad news as Blizzard the poorly seal pup passes over to rainbow bridge after months of intensive care – APPEAL for mackerel and herring to help feed the pups

The GSPCA are devasted to report the sad loss of Blizzard the grey seal pup in the early hours of yesterday.

Rescued back in December Blizzard has had many health and physical issues since being rescued and despite the pups incredible around the clock care and a range of veterinary treatments we were unable to save the very poorly pup.

GSPCA Seal Pups Making Great Progress as Ice Ice Baby and Icicle Move to the Next Stage of Rehabilitation

The GSPCA is delighted to share an update on the four grey seal pups currently in our care. After weeks of intensive support, Ice Ice Baby and Icicle have now progressed to the next stage of their rehabilitation — moving into one of our larger specialist pools earlier this week. Both pups are eating extremely well, gaining weight, and growing in confidence as they continue their journey towards release.

The GSPCA is appealing for public support following International Seal Day, which took place on Sunday, as four grey seal pups continue to receive intensive care at the Shelter. This appeal comes shortly after a heart‑warming moment earlier this month when three rehabilitated seal pups were successfully released into the wild on a sunny afternoon at Portlet.

Grey Seal Pup Rescued Near the Fairy Ring With Severe Netting Injury

This morning the GSPCA team were called to an urgent rescue after reports of a grey seal pup struggling along the shoreline near the Fairy Ring on the south coast of Guernsey. Witnesses spotted the young male pup with horrendous netting tightly embedded around his neck, causing a severe and infected wound.

Late last night saw the 6th seal pup since mid December.

Iceberg Lettuce a female grey seal pup was last night rescued in the heart of St Peter Port.

She was first spotted in the harbour on the weekend and the team have been monitoring the poorly pup.

Once again the sixth pup must have been separated from her mother too early as she is only 20kgs which is less than half her ideal body weight.

Icicle as the seal pup has been called was found half her ideal body weight for her age at just 20kgs and was rescued near the Fairy Ring due to the poorly condition and no mother in site.

Dehydrated various wounds.
