Being able to do this uninterrupted is essential and is the best practice for the animal's welfare.

IMPORTANT -  For more details please ensure you read the information on your booking acknowledgement and it is correct.

On arrival you will be required to complete the relevant paperwork with Reception while a member of the kennel staff checks your animal. This gives staff the chance to check your pet thoroughly to make sure it is going to our kennels in optimum condition and ask you any queries we have.

To help our staff and to ensure that your pet has a stress free stay at the Shelter it is important that you pass on the relevant information about your animal's behaviour. We exercise all the dogs that stay with us and give a basic brush on departure, so if this would cause a problem, i.e. the dog has arthritis or can be aggressive when grooming, please tell Reception on your arrival.

Dog Walking
We strive to ensure that all dogs have two short walks a day as a minimum and sometimes they can be walked many times but during severe weather we use the training room and other indoor areas we have on site or prepare interactive toys and treats to keep your dog entertained. If you are looking for additional options for exercise there are details of other services available in our reception area.

Dog Grooming
We can now offer a full professional grooming service either with the onsite dog groomers (Wags & Tails) at the GSPCA or for an animal taxi fee we can transport your dog(s) to and from a groomers of your choice. Please book either before or when you bring your dog in to stay, prices available from Reception. Rest assured that no matter what your pet requires: hand stripping, a full show trim or simply a bit of a tidy up we can help.

Gifts for your pets stay

The GSPCA is primarily an animal welfare organisation. As such, the Society will not accept animals for boarding in a condition that could compromise their welfare. For example, an animal that has a matted coat, severely overgrown nails or an untreated veterinary condition.

You do not need to bring bedding or toys, we have a large range of suitable toys and bedding to make sure your animal is happy and comfortable during its stay at the Shelter.

You will be required to bring any medication from your vet and any prescribed food the animal is fed on.

You will also need to bring a record of vaccination (including Kennel Cough for dogs) and be up to date with worming and flea treatment. For the health of your pet and other people's we will be unable to accept unvaccinated animals.

A 50% non refundable deposit is required at time of booking.

In the case of a cancelation due to extenuating circumstances and wish for a refund please put it in writing to the GSPCA Manager Email: [email protected] Post: GSPCA, Rue des Truchots, St Andrews, Guernsey, GY6 8UD

These protocols and refund policies have become necessary due to the large number of people who do not advise us if they wish to cancel a boarding booking. This leads to empty kennels and a loss of revenue upon which we rely to support the homeless and injured animals in our care.

The money raised from boarding your animal goes towards the medical needs and loving care we provide to the ones that are less fortunate than your own pet. You are helping to find these animals a good home.
