Name:
Tulip and Daffodil - looking for a very special home!
Animal:
Cat
Breed:
Domestic short hair
Age:
Around 5 months
More Info:
Tulip and Daffodil are a pair of sweet girls looking for their forever home. These girls came in with their two brothers, and they all had a tough start in life. One of their brothers has now found a new, loving home, but these girls are still waiting and are now nearly 5 months old. Daffodil (right) is the more confident of the two and warms up to people quicker, but they can both be a bit shy to start with. In a loving home we’re sure they will both thrive.
These kittens sadly are ( FHV-1 ) Herpes Virus carriers and due to this they will need to be indoor cats only for the whole of their lives, due to this, a largish home is a must and if you have room for a Catio that would be a perfect addition.
We are looking for quiet homes only, with no other cats, dogs or children, as stress can potentially cause flare ups of the virus.
INFORMATION ABOUT HERPES VIRUS ( FHV-1 )
1- All cats that have been infected by FVR will become carriers.
2- FVR cannot be passed to humans or other non-feline mammals.
3- Stress and illness can cause the virus to reactivate, this will mean the cat is infectious again.
4- The typical signs of FVR can be sneezing, conjunctivitis, discharge from the nose but it can also cause inflammation of the eyes, leading to corneal ulcers, dry eyes and scarring.
5- There is no cure for FVR, however most cats respond well to Vet management of the condition and lead normal lives, reducing stressful situations and following an appropriate vaccination schedule are best to keep your cat healthy.
These kittens may or may not require more Vet attention than normal cats, so we ask serious inquiries only please. We are happy to answer any questions regarding them. As with all our cats they will be fully vaccinated, wormed, and spayed when old enough.
If you think that you could offer these sweet girls the home they are looking for, please fill in a cat adoption application form (linked below) and email to cattery@gspca.org.gg
