With over 150 years of helping animals in Guernsey and more animals being helped each year than ever before the GSPCA are looking to add new team members to help ensure our 24/7 work.

The GSPCA has had to grow in recent years to meet the demands on our services and ensure the care and rescue of animals in need.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We are very excited to announce some exciting new opportunities at the GSPCA.”

“We have been reviewing our structure and ways in which we work and our team has had to grow in recent years both voluntary and staff and with the increasing numbers of animals and demands on our services we have identified two new roles, those being a GSPCA Deputy Manager and also a Supervisor or Senior Animal Care Team Member role to help in a range of areas from training to support the 24/7 work of the Shelter.”

“The GSPCA Deputy Manager role is a brand new role to help support in the smooth running of the GSPCA and we are looking for a person with exceptional people skills, adaptable, kind, supportive and with the modern day skills needed to fill what is a very diverse role supporting the team and helping lead the GSPCA alongside myself.”

“I have been in management in animal welfare for over 25 years and every day is different with constant challenges, but everyday you can be assured we help make a difference to animals and our community in a wide range of ways.”

“The Supervisor role is to help the current Supervisors in the running the day to day care of the animals and departments, as well as supporting the growing team, assisting with training and ensure excellent standards and care along with the GSPCA Deputy Manager and myself.”

“We are also looking for other animal care and reception team members, and always keen to hear from those looking to volunteer.”

“We are also always looking for those wishing to sponsor our work and there are a huge range of ways in which to do this.”

“We have some departments that require specific help on weekends especially the hedgehog and wildlife areas, the cattery, reception on Saturdays and help with maintenance and the animal ambulance.”

“To apply for a paid position please download the application pack below, call 257261 and we can post one out, email [email protected] or pop in to collect a pack.”

When we have posts at the GSPCA we advertise online, through our social media and sometimes in the local media. Please keep an eye on this page for vacancies like those below.

The GSPCA are often looking for additional casual staff members to help with our increasingly busy front desk, the animals, guided tours, cleaning and to continue to develop our charity shop area.

Casual positions help cover the 7 day a week work, especially on weekends and bank holidays when the GSPCA is often extremely busy and very much with cover for holidays or illness.

We have a team of 24 staff and over 800 volunteers and without the whole team we couldn't help the 3000+ animals that come through the doors every year, care for the many boarders and achieve so much.

The Casual Animal Care Assistant and Casual Charity Shop roles are exciting posts with varied duties to help from covering the ambulance to working in the many departments at the GSPCA and help the 24/7 work of the GSPCA.

The roles involve animal care, rescue, customer relations, using our IT, telephone calls, acceptance, boarding, welfare complaints, animal pet tributes, adoption and post adoption processes, GSPCA tours, website, social media and procedures are conducted correctly, thoroughly and professionally.

We are often looking for casual team members and review applications each month.

To apply and find out more please download an application pack below or collect one from the GSPCA Animal Shelter in St Andrews.

All applicants are required to complete an application form which is included in the pack and return it to the GSPCA, Rue des Truchots, St Andrews, Guernsey, GY6 8UD or email [email protected]
