Fluke and Barney are two dogs at the GSPCA who are not only needing new and loving homes but both require operations.
Fluke a Jack Russell needs an operation on his leg and Barney a Collie Cross needs a lump removed.
We are hoping to get both dogs in for their operations before Christmas and we are appealing for funds towards their care.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said 'Barney and Fluke are two lovely dogs and we are appealing to anyone that would like to help towards their operations.'
Thankfully the incidents of animals being injured by fireworks & bonfires in Guernsey are few and far between; but we mustn’t get too complacent. Below are some basic guidelines that will enable you to help all of our furry and feathered friends to stay calm and safe on and around Bonfire night.
The GSPCA is currently inundated with animals in need of new homes.
With World Animal Day on the 4th October we are giving Islanders a chance to view many of the animals in need by having open days and evenings at the GSPCA Animal Shelter on Tuesday the 1st and Wednesday 2nd October between 11am and 8pm and on Thursday 3rd October between 11am until 4pm.
With only 4 weeks this Sunday to go don't forget as part of the Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday there will be a fun dog show.
The GSPCA often receive calls from distressed animal owners for a number of reasons and this year one that has been highlighted is that of dogs attacking other animals.
It is often reported in the press regarding dogs killing chickens that aren't controlled but it doesn't stop there. At the GSPCA we often have other birds, hedgehogs, rabbits and even cats that are reported to the Shelter that have been killed by dogs that aren't under control.

Today Nouska popped along to the vets for a check up and although we don't have the results of what the lump was yet the vet is pleased with how the operation scar is healing.
Nouska is doing well in himself and we are extremely grateful to everyone that has donated to his appeal.
If you would like to donate to Nouska the Husky's operation and the other animals in need please call 01481 257261, pop into the Shelter in St Andrews or click on the Paypal link below and reference 'Nouska's Appeal'
With the sun shining and a fantastic view nearly 70 Labradors had a fun afternoon at the Bon Port Hotel this weekend.
Organised by Cherry Dewey with her two Labradors being the first to arrive, volunteers helping on the day couldn't believe car after car pulling up with Labradors of all sorts of shapes, sizes and ages.
This Sunday the 14th July 2013 at the Bon Port Hotel we would like to invite you to Labradog Day, a day to celebrate Labradors in Guernsey.
Organised by Cherry Dewey we are asking labrador owners from around the Bailiwick to come along with their Labradors for a fun filled afternoon.
We are also trying to get as many Labradors from around the island so we can get a phot of them all together.
The day includes -
After an operation to remove a lump from his throat and an overnight stay Nouska the Husky is back at the Animal Shelter and doing well.
The lump which was found after Nouska was signed over to the Shelter has now been removed and he is on pain relief, antibiotics and a special food to help his recovery.
We have sent the lump away to be diagnosed and will hopefully no longer cause Nouska and more issues.
