Submitted by Steve on 16:28, 22nd May, 2020 | 0

With the current challenges we all need cheering up and what better way than sharing an update on an animal happily adopted from the GSPCA.

Hamish was adopted during lock down and here is an update from his owner -

“Just a few photos to show how Hamish has settled in, he has claimed our bedroom window sill as his early morning lookout post, and has a teddy to cuddle into in his bed next to the radiator in our bedroom.

He sits on the sofa between us in the evening watching tv or just under the sofa. He had a play last night with catnip, and seems very happy.

It has been amazing to see such incredible ways supporters of the GSPCA and animals have been inventing all sorts of ways to raise funds for the animals at the GSPCA and the 1000’s we help every year during the Covid-19 pandemic.

9 year old Jake Hardill during lockdown has been kept busy not just with his home schooling but also making home made nest boxes for wild birds which he has been selling to raise funds for the GSPCA.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Fledglings best left being raised by parents and nests must not be disturbed

As a general rule, it is best to leave baby birds alone.

A baby bird has a greater chance of survival in the wild than it has being hand-reared by man as they learn to fend for themselves and how to forage for food by their parents.

Happy News – Priscilla doing well in her new home

Submitted by Steve on 16:08, 14th May, 2020 | 0

With the current challenges we all need cheering up and what better way than sharing an update on an animal happily adopted from the GSPCA.

Priscilla was adopted at the end of 2019 and just before the lock down we had this update rom her owner -

“She has been with us for nearly four months now and has really settled in. She’s found her favourite spots (on the back of the sofa in the sun or in the bay window being nosey) and we’ve learnt her cheeky habits (her slightly unladylike scavenging makes us to keep a very tidy kitchen).

Waitrose help with fresh produce to feed the animal at the GSPCA for our #GSPCACoronavirusCrisisAppeal

Submitted by Steve on 16:21, 7th May, 2020 | 0

The GSPCA would like to say a huge thank you to both Waitrose stores in Guernsey for their amazing support and to help with our #GSPCACoronavirusCrisisAppeal .

Shortly after releasing the desperate need for support at the end of March the team got in touch to see how they could help.

A few days later we received not only a fantastic rage of fresh fruit and veg for the animals, but we also had a box of goodies to keep the team going at the GSPCA.

Since then each week we have had donations from both stores which has helped feed the many animals in our care.

The GSPCA team have already been out to a number of vehicles with reports of dogs locked inside with little or no ventilation and had further information this morning from concerned members of the public.
