The GSPCA couldn’t achieve so much without our dedicated trained staff and we currently recruiting for casual staff, especially for those available during weekends and bank holidays.

There are two roles which we are currently in need of staff that being Casual Receptionist and Casual Animal Care. It is preferable if applicants have a driving licence , but not necessarily essential at this time.

Huge thanks to all that supported Dan Ashplants album launch and donated to the GSPCA

On Friday at St James Concert Hall Dan Ashplant released his album ‘No Nonsense’.

At the event he also raised funds for the GSPCA which we are hugely grateful for.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Last Friday Dan Ashplant launched his album No Nonsense and also raised funds for the GSPCA.”

“I chatted to Dan on Monday when he dropped the donation in and he said it was a great night and raised over £74 to help the 100’s of animals in our care.”

Thanks to all that supported our stall at the Classic Car Show and to all that organised a great day

On Sunday the GSPCA were at the Classic Car Show thanks to Tim, James and Beckie and we want to thank those that organised and all that supported our stall.

Tim Pellet GSPCA Training and Community Officer said “We had a great day at the Classic Car Show on Sunday and raised an amazing £530.”

“Beckie and James helped me with the stall and we saw so many wonderful supporters and lots of dogs as well.”

“We even saw some of the dogs that have been adopted from the GSPCA.”

Wishes coming true at the GSPCA thanks to Situations Recruitment and Guernsey Electricity

Situations Recruitment are delighted to have purchased 4 new fridge freezers for the GSPCA, which are vital for the charity to provide quality food and support to the animals in their care.

Melissa, MD at Situations, said “I spotted the GSPCA’s appeal on LinkedIn recently for new white goods and straight away we wanted to support them.”

“We are donating the fridges in memory of our colleague Debbie’s dear dog Roxy (shown in this post), who sadly passed away last month after a long and happy life with Debbie.”

This Wednesday please pop along & support the Greenman Mcc & Millards Charity Bikenight in aid of the GSPCA

Each year the fantastic Greenman Mcc & Millards Charity Bikenights raise thousands of pounds for local charities and good causes and this Wednesday please pop along for a great time and raise much needed funds for the nominated charity which this week is ourselves at the GSPCA.

Annual Classic Vehicle Show 2021 on Sunday 8th August – pop by and can you volunteer on our stall

On Sunday 8th August please pop along to Saumarez Park to see the GSPCA stall supporting the Annual Classic Vehicle Show Public hosted by Guernsey Classic Vehicle Club LBG.

We had a great time in previous years and we are delighted once again to be able to attend this wonderful event and will have a stall raising funds for the many animals in our care at the GSPCA.

The day starts at 11am and runs all the way through until 5pm.

Talk at the Youth Commission with a great question If you crossed the DNA of a cat with a human would you get a talking cat?

One of the main aims of the GSPCA is education and today GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne attended the Youth Commission to talk to a group of 30 children aged 4 – 11 years.

For nearly 90 minutes they learnt all about the work of the GSPCA, animal care and the thousands of animals we help every year.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Although we are unable to carry out our normal guided educational tours due to our onsite covid rules we absouletly love coming out to talk to groups about our work and educate about animal care.”

Huge thanks to all involved in the Torteval Scarecrow Festival, supporters, volunteers and help from local Freemasons

Last weekend the 18th Torteval Scarecrow Festival took place through the delightful lanes of the parish all starting from Torteval Church.

This was the sixth year the GSPCA took part in this wonderful community event and we are hugely grateful to the McIntyre family for the kind use of their front garden which displayed our fantastic entry ‘#GSPCATogether’.

This year the GSPCA not only had a fab entry made by Head of Scarecrows Seb Goman and the team, but we also were kindly invited to collect at the car park on the Saturday for much needed donations for the GSPCA.

See the GSPCA at every Seafront Sunday with the third EDABL this weekend and can you help

This Sunday the GSPCA will once again be on the Seafront for the third EDABL Seafront Sunday and fifth of the year taking place in St Peter Port.

This Sunday from 10am till 4pm the GSPCA are delighted to say we will be joining the EDABL Seafront Sunday to raise much needed funds and promote the work of the Animal Shelter.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We always have great fun at the Seafront Sundays and not only are we looking forward to this weekend, we are appealing for volunteers to help at the second EDABL Seafront Sunday on the 25th July."
