On Wednesday the 18th July a group of students from Les Beacamps High Year 10 are organising a biathlon to raise funds for the GSPCA Animal Shelter.
Andrew Wilkinson and friends Kieran Torode, Josh Tucker and Sam Le Ray will depart on bike from Vale Church and will ride to the Imperial Hotel. They will then walk the rest of the way to Jerbourg Point.
They plan to leave at 10am on Wednesday and are looking for your support to raise as much as possible for the GSPCA and are planned to get to their final destination at 3pm.
We are looking for businesses or individuals to sponsor the Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday on the 9th September.
This is a day to celebrate the animals of Guernsey and the wonderful work that is done to care for them.
If you or your business would like to be the main sponsor or sponsor one of the events like the Mascot Race or Dog Show, Fancy Dress Competition or Doggy Dancing, Fancy Dress Wheelie Bin Race, in fact any of the events then please get in touch as we'd love to hear from you.
From a bunny boom to a guinea pig bonanza the Animal Shelter is now inundated with over 20 rabbits, guinea pigs and rats in need of a good home.
From strays, unwanted litters and those that cannot be cared for due to an owner’s change of circumstances or welfare reasons the Shelter is literally bursting with these little animals looking for new homes.
Just last night another stray rabbit was found wandering and we urge any owners that lose their pets to ensure they register their details with the Shelter as we have stray animals brought in every day.
Curves Guernsey at Admiral Park are hosting a collection this month to help the Women’s Refuge and the GSPCA with food.
The female only gym is asking members to donate non-perishable food and donations for these two charities and those that donate will be entered in a draw for a special Curves prize. Non-members can waive the initial joining fee if they donate a bag of food.
On Christmas Day 9 brave souls went to the Havelet bathing pools to take part in the Christmas Day swim with apparently over 200 others.
Those that did the swim were made up of staff and volunteers which were jumping in to raise funds for the Animal Shelter. Thank you to Steve Byrne, Lorna Prince, John Prince, Joanne Fox, Geoff George, Tony Gallie, Annabelle Janes, Lauren Ellis, and Martin Smith for doing the jump. Also thank you to all that supported them by the cheers and the sponsorship.
