Tonight we hold our 11^th Volunteer Induction of 2019 having inducted 111 volunteers through this years events.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We cannot achieve so much without the incredible volunteers and team we have here at the GSPCA.”

“We love to meet new volunteers and our next induction is tonight at 630pm.”

“You can come along no matter your age or interest and you can find out how you can get involved and help support and be involved with the work of the GSPCA.”

This week GSPCA Honey has gone on sale at the GSPCA for £6 a jar.

On site at the GSPCA the Guernsey Beekeepers Association have a training apiary and have been on site with us since the 16^th May 2017.

There are a number of hives and the Guernsey Beekeepers use the GSPCA for training their members and those interested and they hold a number of events at the GSPCA each year.

We recently said a thank you to Grow Ltd for some wonderful donations of fruit and veg and we have had even more through the month of September which the GSPCA and in particular the animals are extremely grateful for.

Invideo who help create promotional videos saw our online thanks and educational message about feeding the correct food types to tortoise and kindly made a video as a way of us to promote the message.

At the GSPCA Animal Shelter in St Andrews we have two permanent and a casual post which we are currently looking to recruit individuals with excellent customer and animal care skills.

Working for the GSPCA is a diverse and often challenging position with great rewards from the 3000 animals we help through the doors 24/7 each year to the community we serve here in Guernsey.

Full Time Animal Care Assistant Post (with Animal Ambulance Collection Officer, Reception & Night duties) Post – Primarily Kennels

The GSPCA has kindly been allowed to spend an extra week at the OSA Recruitment Pop Up Shop in Smith Street.

From 23^rd to 28^th September pop in for some great charity shop bargains raising funds for the many animals in our care at the GSPCA.

Open 9am – 5pm.

The GSPCA are currently looking for additional casual staff members to help with our increasingly busy front desk, the animals, guided tours, cleaning and to continue to develop our charity shop area.

Casual positions help cover the 7 day a week work, especially on weekends and bank holidays when the GSPCA is often extremely busy and very much with cover for holidays or illness.

A temporary grandstand is in position and ready to go for Saturday’s rugby double header against Brighton on the Club Pitch (next to La Petite Ecole), Footes Lane.

Please watch out for poorly gulls in Guernsey

Beckie Bailey GSPCA Animal care Assistant wants to share some advice after a very busy weekend at the GSPCA with sick and injured gulls -

“Over the weekend The GSPCA have had 8 gulls come into our care with similar symptoms, not being able to fly and very lethargic. 

One of the Gulls that was found outside Waitrose threw up this wooden skewer when at GSPCA. 

Last night we held our 10th Volunteer Induction of 2019 and greeted 13 new faces keen to help.

The induction was taken by GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne who greeted the group.  From gardening to caring for the animals each were keen to help in a variety of way.

The first 3 of the group start tomorrow morning with the others later on this month and one in October.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “It was lovely to meet all 13 new volunteers last night.”

Tomorrow we hold 10^th Volunteer Induction of 2019 having inducted 98 volunteers through this years events.

We often see 10 or more new volunteers, placements, work experience and individuals looking to help us at the GSPCA and if 13 come along to the next event we will have inducted 100 volunteers through them this year.
