This Tuesday at 630pm is our 3rd volunteer induction evening of 2019.
Open to all our induction evenings are your way to get involved with our varied and diverse work helping animals and the community in Guernsey.
You need to be at least 13 years old to help at the Shelter. If you are younger then you could still help. If you talk to your parents or guardians they may help you with fund raising for the Animal Shelter.
Last week the staff and volunteers at the GSPCA took part in training in Pet Bereavement thanks to the Guernsey Bereavement Service.
Sadly every day of the year staff and volunteers at the GSPCA help owners of pets that have died, whether recently or in the past and it is always hard to know if you are saying the right thing.

Today is #WorldWildlifeDay and with over 2000 wild animals through the GSPCA doors every year we need your support with our proposed new Wildlife Hospital which recently received planning permission.
This much needed facility is planned to replace a number of old buildings some which date back to the 1940’s.
Last year the GSPCA launched a fundraising campaign for the facility and now the planning has been granted the fundraising for the facility is a major priority.
Yesterday was a very sad day for the team at the GSPCA as we said farewell to Helen Holmes in her role who is without doubt one of the most diverse staff members at the GSPCA.
Helen has worked at the GSPCA for over 12 years and although has the title of Admin Manager you would often see her helping on animal departments, carrying out home visits, covering reception, helping at events, hand rearing animals, running the vet list, helping owners with their cremations and so many other duties that helped so many animals, their owners and the team throughout the GSPCA.
From all of the dragons, doves, animals and team at the GSPCA a Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus and Happy St Davids Day.
On the 1st March St Davids Day is celebrated who is the patron Saint of Wales where the Dragon is on their national flag and the dove is his emblem.
The GSPCA currently has a number of Dragons in need of loving new homes.
Three of the Dragons are Newt, Mr Thatch and Nigel who are looking for homes (Mr Thatch pictured with Welsh cakes).
Yesterday morning the GSPCA team were called out to yet another sick and very underweight grey seal pup.
The call came near the Fairy Ring and the team when they arrived were faced with an emaciated and very poorly young seal pup which was half the weight it should be.
The pup was quickly recued and transported to the GSPCA and the young pup at only a few weeks old should be over 40kgs and was just 20.6kg when rescued with no mother in site.
This takes the numbers of seal pups to the highest it has ever been in our long history.

What an amazing #GSPCAPurpleWeek we have had and still many updates to follow from the amazing support, gifts and events that have taken place to help animals in Guernsey.
The GSPCA are always asking for feedback on the team and for those kind words we issue Certificates of Appreciation to the team and this evening the first of the 71 certificates were handed out.
That’s right an incredible 71 certificates will be issued to GSPCA staff, volunteers, Work to Benefit placements, supporters and amazing helpers all voted by the GSPCA community and supporters.
Today after many months of work, countless volunteers, supporters and businesses, amazing donations and support the GSPCA officially opened the new Chapel of Rest and revamped Memorial Garden.
During a beautiful Spring type day in the Guernsey sun, with blooming daffodils and other early flowers visitors, supporters and local media attended this momentous occasion.
Every year the GSPCA helps over 1000 pet owners through the loss and death of their beloved pets and thanks to so many there is now a lovely area to help pet owners through this difficult time at the GSPCA.
