GSPCA Urges Public to Provide Fresh Water for Hedgehogs and Wild Birds During Hot, Dry Weather

Submitted by Steve on 11:42, 1st Aug, 2025 | 0

With Guernsey experiencing a spell of hot and dry weather, the GSPCA is urging islanders to lend a helping hand to local wildlife by putting out clean, fresh water for hedgehogs, birds, and other wild animals.

The lack of rainfall and soaring temperatures can make it extremely difficult for wildlife to find the water they need to survive. Small animals such as hedgehogs are particularly vulnerable during dry spells, as their usual water sources evaporate or dry up completely. Birds, too, can struggle to stay hydrated, especially fledglings and nesting adults.

GSPCA Thanks Torteval Scarecrow Festival for Another Fantastic Year - 'Fin- tastic friend from the GSP-Sea-A’

Submitted by Steve on 12:47, 24th Jul, 2025 | 0

The GSPCA would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the organisers of the Torteval Scarecrow Festival for once again welcoming our team to take part in this wonderfully creative and much-loved community event.

Although we didn’t take home the top prize this year, we had a fantastic time creating our scarecrow ‘Fin- tastic friend from the GSP-Sea-A’ and being part of the fun. The festival is always a highlight in the summer calendar, bringing people together through laughter, imagination, and community spirit — and we’re honoured to be a part of it.
