The GSPCA would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the wonderful team at the Ship & Crown and all their customers for dedicating their Community Week (17th–23rd November) to supporting local charities — including two fantastic volunteer days and a fundraising event in aid of the GSPCA.
Throughout the week, the Ship & Crown showcased the true spirit of community with a series of events aimed at giving back, raising funds, and bringing people together. Their generosity and hard work made a tangible difference to animals in need and to the charities they championed.
Highlights included:
- Tuesday 18th November – Coffee, Cake & Community
Donations raised during this warm and welcoming event were kindly given to help support the GSPCA’s vital work.
- Wednesday 19th November – GSPCA Volunteer Day
A member of the Ship & Crown team spent the day at the GSPCA, lending a hand across the shelter and supporting our busy daily operations.
- Wednesday 19th November – Donation Drive
Customers were invited to drop off unwanted items, which the team collected, sorted, and delivered to local charities — including essential supplies for the GSPCA.
- Friday 21st November – Charity Raffle
With fantastic prizes and enthusiastic support, raffle ticket sales helped raise funds for multiple local causes.
- Saturday 22nd November – Charity Bonus Ball
A portion of the prize money was donated to the winner’s chosen charity, continuing the week’s theme of generosity.
- Sunday 23rd November – GSPCA Volunteer Day
The team returned once again to assist GSPCA staff with the daily care of the many animals relying on the shelter.

The GSPCA relies on the kindness of the community to continue its work caring for thousands of animals each year. Initiatives like the Ship & Crown’s Community Week play a vital part in helping the charity continue its mission.
