GSPCA Launches Christmas Appeal to Raise £12,000 for Vital IT Upgrades
The GSPCA is launching a special Christmas Appeal to raise £12,000 to replace and upgrade essential IT equipment that has become outdated through years of continuous use. As one of Guernsey’s longest-standing charities, the GSPCA relies heavily on technology every day—handling everything from animal care records and welfare reports to adoption enquiries, volunteer coordination, wildlife rescues, and emergency response.
With ageing computers and devices slowing operations, the charity is calling on the community for support to help bring its IT systems up to modern standards, ensuring the team can work efficiently and continue providing life-saving care to thousands of animals each year.
Steve Byrne, GSPCA Manager, said:
“At this time of year, as we care for so many animals in need, reliable and up-to-date IT equipment isn’t a luxury—it’s essential. Our current systems are many years old and struggling to keep up with the demands of the shelter. With the community’s help, upgrading our IT will enable us to respond faster to emergencies, improve our animal welfare services, and support our team and volunteers who work tirelessly every day. We are incredibly grateful for any help islanders can give this Christmas.”
To support the appeal, donations can be made directly to the GSPCA, with the full £12,000 going toward new computers, tablets, and supporting hardware needed to keep the charity running smoothly.
