GSPCA Seal Pups Making Great Progress as Ice Ice Baby and Icicle Move to the Next Stage of Rehabilitation
The GSPCA is delighted to share an update on the four grey seal pups currently in our care. After weeks of intensive support, Ice Ice Baby and Icicle have now progressed to the next stage of their rehabilitation — moving into one of our larger specialist pools earlier this week. Both pups are eating extremely well, gaining weight, and growing in confidence as they continue their journey towards release.

Hedgehog Awareness Week runs next month from 3rd – 9th May this year and it aims to raise the profile of the Britain’s only spiny mammal and one of the few mammals here in Guernsey.
This year the GSPCA is asking people to create their very own hedgehog haven and support our work with wildlife!

On the 3rd May 2026 10am to 4pm the GSPCA will once again be organising a day to celebrate the animals in Guernsey and all the wonderful work that is done to care for them.
We are extremely grateful to all those that made last 14 years such great days and we are hoping this years will be bigger and better.
Simba turned ONE yesterday and please donate to his hip x-ray
We help 100’s of dogs every year and care for 1000’s through our boarding service and this week celebrated one of the dogs in our care first birthday.
Yesterday we celebrated Simba’s first birthday and we are appealing for donations an x-ray on his hips which was discovered just before he turned one.

The GSPCA is appealing for public support following International Seal Day, which took place on Sunday, as four grey seal pups continue to receive intensive care at the Shelter. This appeal comes shortly after a heart‑warming moment earlier this month when three rehabilitated seal pups were successfully released into the wild on a sunny afternoon at Portlet.

Last night, the GSPCA Head of Marine Mammals and his partner were called to assist a stranded porpoise close to Vale Castle, after reports that the animal was repeatedly swimming towards the shore and appearing extremely weak.
