On Christmas Day 9 brave souls went to the Havelet bathing pools to take part in the Christmas Day swim with apparently over 200 others.

Those that did the swim were made up of staff and volunteers which were jumping in to raise funds for the Animal Shelter.  Thank you to Steve Byrne, Lorna Prince, John Prince, Joanne Fox, Geoff George, Tony Gallie, Annabelle Janes, Lauren Ellis, and Martin Smith for doing the jump.  Also thank you to all that supported them by the cheers and the sponsorship.

Some dived in, other s just dipped in and out and a few went inover 5 times both in the pool and the sea although Tony Gallie one of the staff from the Shelter said 'I popped down during my break as I was working Christmas Day as the animal still need caring for.' 'It was great fun and I jumped in 4 times but I felt numb by the end of it and I was glad to get warm afterwards.'

Check out a video of Lorna Prince and Joanne Fox leaping into the icy water.

Also a video of Janet Unit who has pledged to do the dip next year if she can get over £500 in sponsorship.

All monies raised will be going towards much needed refurbishment of the wildlife unit for the rehabilitation of the Islands’ hedgehogs and birds.  In fact we had another injured hedgehog brought in on Boxing Day.

If you didn't manage to you can still sponsor them by calling into the Shelter and sign the sponsorship form in Reception or donate online via PayPal

Thank you.
