Thank you Guernsey Animal Aid who recently closed for over 25 years helping animals from all the GSPCA and all you have helped

Submitted by Steve on 17:48, 4th Jan, 2024 | 0

The GSPCA and we are sure all the animals and people you have helped would like to send a sincere and heart felt thanks to all of the Guernsey Animal Aid team for all they have done helping animals and our community for over 25 years.

Guernsey Animal Aid was founded in 1998 by Sue Vidamour as an answer to the feral cat problem in Guernsey. Prior to this Sue had been rehoming horses and dogs for 6 years. In 1998 there were 34 feral cat colonies on the island so Sue held a meeting about the problem and Guernsey Animal Aid was formed.

GSPCA and Guernsey Animal Aid meet the States to discuss Animal Welfare Laws in Guernsey

Submitted by Steve on 11:48, 24th Sep, 2021 | 0

Last Tuesday, Guernsey Animal Aid and the GSPCA met with the States Veterinary Office and Deputy Al Brouard,  to discuss concerns and suggestions in regards the Animal Welfare Laws in Guernsey.

The current Guernsey Animal Welfare Ordinance 2012 demands an exceptionally high burden of proof, and securing a prosecution is very rare.

By law, the States Veterinary Officers must give owners a 24-hour notice period, before their office can go and investigate a welfare case, which means that evidence is almost impossible to collect.

If you see kittens at Icart Point please let the GSPCA know

Submitted by GSPCA on 11:25, 10th Jul, 2013 | 1

This week we have received a young kitten that was rescued out at Icart Point.

The GSPCA are concerned that there may be others and if you are out in the area and come across any please get in touch with the Shelter.

Tiger as he has been named was found extremely thin, no mother in site and full of worms, fleas and may not have survived if he had not been rescued.

This time of year kittens are often rescued and brought into the GSPCA and just this morning another feral was rescued and brought in from the Bouet area who is now named Molly.
