From 1st October Dog & Horse Restrictions Lifted on Beaches in Guernsey for the next 6 months

We are very lucky that most of Guernsey's beaches are dog friendly during the summer months.  From the 1st October the beaches where dogs are banned between 1st May and 30th September have the restrictions lifted and these are –

GSPCA ADVICE - Only a week left to enjoy many beaches with your dogs in Guernsey & restrictions for horse riders

We have been blessed with incredible weather during April and with the Coronavirus social distancing restrictions and many off work, Guernsey beaches have never seen so many dogs on them each day.

We have been in touch with the States of Guernsey and confirm that the ban comes into force as usual from the 1st May until the 30th September. The restrictions mean that dogs are not allowed on the following beaches between these dates –

We are very lucky that most of Guernsey's beaches are dog friendly during the summer months.  However from last week on the 1st October the beaches where dogs are banned between 1st May and 30th September have the restrictions lifted and these are –

  • Fermain
  • Petit Bot
  • L'Erée
  • Vazon (Northern end)
  • Cobo
  • Port Soif
  • L'Ancresse
  • Pembroke

Dogs are not permitted on Lihou Island and Lihou causeway all year round.

Reminder for dog owners annual beach restrictions return on 1st May

Dog owners are being reminded that from the 1st May to the 30th September inclusive, restrictions return on seven Guernsey beaches:   Fermain, Petit Bot, L’Erée, Vazon, Cobo, Port Soif, L’Ancresse/Pembroke.  Herm’s Shell Beach, Belvoir Bay, Fisherman’s Beach, and the area of beach in front of the White House Hotel to the Herm Harbour Jetty are also out of bounds to dogs.

The GSPCA are reminding dog walkers that once again from today you can take your canine friend on the beaches around Guernsey.

Guernsey has restrictions on a number of beaches during the Summer months which are then lifted during the Winter.

With the restrictions lifted the GSPCA would like to remind pet owners to be mindful of the Wildlife that live and feed along the shorelines.

Here is a breakdown of the restrictions which have been lifted as of the 1st October until the 30th April.

With only two days to enjoy many beaches with your dogs around Guernsey, the GSPCA are reminding all about the restrictions.

Dogs are not allowed on or off lead on the following beaches between 1st May – 30th September:

Fermain

Petit Bot

L’Eree

The Northern end of Vazon

Port Soif

Cobo

L’Ancresse / Pembroke

Dogs are also excluded from Shell Beach, Belvoir Bay, Fisherman’s Beach and the stretch of beach in front of the White House Hotel to the Herm Jetty.

ADVICE FOR DOG OWNERS - With only a week until beach restrictions for dogs on beaches please take care due to palm oil sighted

In recent years each winter dog owners are warned to keep pets away from any oily white substances they may find on local beaches. This month the same substance has been spotted once again on Channel Island beaches and the GSPCA are asking dog owners to take care when along the coast.
