Quack Quack,

Well I wanted to let everyone know that World Kindness Day is this Sunday 13th November. It was introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement and is observed in many countries, including Canada, Japan, Australia, Nigeria and United Arab Emirates.

In 2009, Singapore observed the day for the first time and 45,000 flowers were given away there. Italy and India also observed the day. In the UK it is fronted by Louise Burfitt-Dons and David Jamilly. According to modern psychology, altruistic acts increases our own happiness in a profound way.

The Gulf News have Gert the GSPCA duckquacked, "it is a day that encourages individuals to overlook boundaries, race and religion".

My friends at the GSPCA encourage everyone to think about the kind deeds that they do and to try and do something nice this Sunday whether it be for animals or one another.

I have seen the GSPCA have already helped hundreds of animals that were found sick, injured or cruelly treated this year.  In fact the numbers are already in excess of 1500 in 2011. It is quacktastic they are there!

My little friend Hobo the hamster who was found dumped in a bin bag in St Peter Port is just one of many that without the help of a kind hearted person in Guernsey she may not have been with us today.

The GSPCA and I want thank everyone for their kindness and if you would like to support them by making a donation then please go to www.gspca.org.gg/fundraising call 01481 257261 or call in to the shelter.

I'll quack to you later.

Gert x x
