Last week the 3rd Guernsey Scout Cubs from St Martins came to visit the GSPCA.

On Tuesday 31st January just after 6pm a group of 17 Cubs arrived at the GSPCA to be shown around the Animal Shelter by GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne.

To start the tour the group got an introduction of the work of the GSPCA and met a beagle called Molly who was very happy to see them all despite the dark evening.

The Cubs were visiting the Shelter as part of the Animal Care badge and saw many of the animals up close including David the degu, Pollyana the corn snake and many of the 300 animals in our care.

All of the Cubs were extremely well behaved and were allowed to see some of the wildlife although weren't able to talk whilst they were in the sections they were allowed.

The Cubs were taught about the needs of the animals, how to care for them and even a little first aid if they become sick or injured.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "One of our main aims at the GSPCA is to educate and ensure we are all responsible pet owners and it was wonderful to meet the 3rd Guernsey Scout Cubs from St Martins and show them around the GSPCA."

"From meeting Molly the beagle to seeing inside of the cattery the group had many questions and all seemed to enjoy their visit."

"If any groups are interested in a tour or a talk please get in touch and we also hold guided tours in the school holidays and even run Special Birthday Guided Tour events for those interested."
