The Douzaines of five parishes; St Peter Port, Castel, St Saviour, St Pierre du Bois and St Martins have agreed to support the GSPCA’s dog microchipping and registration initiative in 2013 by meeting the initial cost of microchipping through the dog licence fee.

The scheme is entirely voluntary but the Douzaines hope dog owners will avail themselves of this opportunity to ensure their dogs can be easily and quickly identified should they stray or be involved in an accident.

Any dog, from the participating parishes, can be microchipped for free by the GSPCA during the year on production of a valid 2013 licence. The five Douzaines will then reimburse the GSPCA.

As it is not possible to predict how many dog owners will take advantage of this offer we suggest that interest is registered with the GSPCA by telephone or email then either individual appointments can be made or the GSPCA will organize sessions within the participating parishes. The GSPCA can be contacted on 257261 or email addresses are below.

Some individual parishes may wish to extend the scope of the core proposal and will be informing parishioners should they do so.
