Sherbert our beautiful Husky has at last found the perfect home!

After months of searching Sherbert has finally found a new home with a family that can offer her a wonderful new life.

Thanks to her new owner’s Sherbert has avoided becoming the GSPCA’s longest term dog and a possible trip to an RSPCA Centre in the South of England where it was hoped she would have better luck with her search.

Huskies can often be difficult to rehome as new owners need to fully appreciate and understand the breed and the responsibilities that come with owning a working dog.  This is then compounded if the dog has had a few problems in the past. Poor Sherbert had been moved from pillar to post before finally being brought into the GSPCA at the beginning of February 2011 and after a few months of trying to match her to the right household it became apparent that this would not be an easy task.

Thankfully the Mariess family came forward and asked if they might be a suitable foster home for Sherbert , which they were. After weeks of trying to be objective and not fall in love with her they decided that they couldn’t let her go and the adoption has now be finalised.

Everyone at the GSPCA owes a huge amount of gratitude to the family for firstly coming forward and offering their home to our dogs and secondly for falling in love with a very special girl.

Thank you and woof from Sherbie. x

"I am so pleased for Sherbert, she deserves a happy home with a family who will love and cherish her. Owning a husky myself I know from experience that they can be very hard work...but the rewards of having her are absolutely worth it and they give so much back"
