Last May an injured long haired black and white cat was rescued and brought into the GSPCA on the Liberation weekend.

Found near Castel Hospital we named the cat Jubilee who had an awful bite wound and eye injury which was not easiy cured.  He needed many months of care and vet treatment and as no owner came forward after some months when the 3 year old cat was healthy enough he was put up for rehoming.

He was very difficult to handle at first and with his injuries meaning regular treatments it took sometime before he would trust the team.

Due to his injuries he may well have issues that reoccur and that meant finding him a new home wasn't easy.

Just over two weeks ago Jubilee finally found that forever home having been at the GSPCA for nearly a year.

The new owner has been in touch and we are over the moon to report that Jubilee is now named Bilee and settled extremely well.

Anna Paint Senior Animal Care Assistant said "Poor Jubilee went through so much with so many medications and vet checks and it was wonderful when we found him a loving new home."

"This week the new owner sent us some pictures and gave us an update on how well he is doing which is great news as many of us at the GSPCA loved him very much."

"The cats with medical problems are often with us for some time like the two diabetic cats we have Monkey and Bob and and it is lovely when we do finally find them that forever home."

"Many of the cats can be seen on the GSPCA website or please pop in ideally 11am to 4.30pm any day except Sunday to complete a form and view those in need of a home."

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "Jubilee is an amazing cat and it's fantastic that he has found a new and loving home."

"We have many animals in need of homes at the GSPCA from cats to many rabbits, birds to ferrets so if you are thinking of adopting a pet please do get in touch with us at the GSPCA."

"When Jubilee arrived we were busy with the Liberation Day stalls at the Last Post and in town and we will be out and about in the same places this year too."

"If you can't have a pet or already have enough at home maybe you could help sponsor those in the care of the Animal Shelter."

New owner Louise Wilson said "We adopted the rather wonderful cat Jubilee just over two weeks ago."

"Jubilee has settled amazingly well, within just a day at our home he had overcome any uncertainties and is a real joy to look after."

"He is very friendly and playful and has specially bonded with my daughter Hannah."

"A big thank you to the GSPCA, staff and helpers who contributed in caring for Jubilee."
