At the GSPCA we provide a 24 hour emergency rescue service for animals in Guernsey, but we would like to remind everyone that for routine and none emergencies the opening times at the GSPCA.
The GSPCA reception telephone line is open Monday to Saturday between 9am and 5pm and we are closed bank holidays and Sundays.
The number for general enquiries, boarding, education, dog training, our shop and other services is 01481 257261 and we always welcome your call during our opening times.
The line can get busy at times, but please know there is an answer message service where a member of the team will get back to you as soon as they can.
Outside of these times we do provide an emergency service, but we would like to remind all callers that it is for emergencies. The number is exactly the same and all you need do for the emergency service is select the emergency option on 257261.
We have a team of volunteers that help provide the out of hour emergency service and a general enquiry call could be stopping a genuine emergency getting through.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "In the last week at the GSPCA we have had three animals that had to be rushed to the vets to go on a drip and if we hadn't responded quickly then we may not have got them to the vets in time."
"We would like to remind anyone calling the out of hours service at the GSPCA that it is for sick and injured animals or strays in need."
"We have recently had a number of calls asking questions on our emergency line about information that can be found on our web site or even have been left until the reception line is open the next morning and this really can put injured animals lives at risk."
"We have a fantastic team of volunteers that help provide our out of hours service and there is always a member of staff at the Shelter 24 hours a day 7 days a week to ensure that we are there when an emergency happens and an animal in Guernsey needs our help."
