On Monday we held our seventh volunteer induction of 2018..
The induction will took place with GSPCA Animal Care Assistant Sarah langlois who greeted the 20 new volunteers with a few of their friends.
The group learnt all about who we are, what we do, the ways volunteers can help and an induction of how to help safely.
Although volunteering at the Animal Shelter starts at 13 for those under 13 they are always welcome to attend and get involved with events and fund raising. We have a huge number of events over the summer and we are always looking for help.
We have now trained 101 new volunteers in 2018 through our induction evenings and more than 50 others with volunteer days.
At the end of the induction Sarah talked to all attending to set dates and times to start, and all were given a certificate of attendance and a pack of information including a hand book.
Sarah Langlois GSPCA Animal Care Assistant said “It was great to meet the 20 new volunteers that attended our Volunteer Induction on Monday.”
“There were five keen to start their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award volunteering at the GSPCA, seven through Elizabeth College and eight others keen to help volunteer and start through this month.”
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We are hugely grateful to the amazing 120 volunteers that help every week and the more than 800 that help us in so many ways through the year.”
“Volunteers help around the clock 24/7 and when we were founded 145 years ago it was thanks to volunteers that met to create the GSPCA to help the animals and community of Guernsey.”
“From the GSPCA a huge thank you to every person that volunteers or helps us in any way from popping a donation in a collection box to helping night warden every week.”

- Friday 27th July 2018 Volunteer Induction Starts 330pm until approximately 5pm
- Wednesday 1st August 2018 Volunteer Induction Evening Starts 630pm until approximately 815pm
- Monday 3rd September 2018 Volunteer Induction Evening Starts 630pm until approximately 815pm
- Monday 1st October 2018 Volunteer Induction Evening Starts 630pm until approximately 815pm
- Monday 5th November 2018 Volunteer Induction Evening Starts 630pm until approximately 815pm
- Tuesday 4th December 2018 Volunteer Induction Evening Starts 630pm until approximately 815pm
