We would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to all the wonderful kind people of Guernsey and even in the UK that have donated and seen the plight and need of Mr T, the cat who is in need of a cancer operation to remove part of his ears and nose.

We would like to inform everyone that after a stroke of luck we have found the owners of Mr T.  They were re-united after much heart ache and were very happy to see one another.  They are taking him to their vets to have him health checked and to continue any treatment needed.

So far we have received a phenomenal £1500 in donations online, by post and through visitors calling into the shelter and this will certainly help towards the many other operations and treatments of animals in our care.

A few of the cats under treatment at present are Chandler who was a feral stray tabby kitten and is now 5 months old and has a heart murmur that we are monitoring in case he needs an operation or long term treatment.  We also have Buttons another 5 month old black short haired cat who has a deformed front right paw that needs an operation to separate his toes.  Blue is an 8 year old cat that came in close to death due to his lack of weight.  He has been diagnosed with hyperthyroid and will need treatment for the rest of his life.

Steve Byrne, GSPCA Manager said ‘We are so grateful to the generosity of the people of Guernsey and have even had donations from as far as the Midlands in the UK.’ ‘Today I met with the owners who were so relieved to find their beloved cat.’ ‘As Mr T is back with his owners if anyone who would like to find out how they can get their donation back to please get in touch but the donations we have had will go to other very needy cats and animals such as Chandler and Buttons, two cats that need a lot of veterinary care.’

So far in 2011 the GSPCA has helped nearly 2000 animals both domestic and wild, from strays to sick animals, those neglected to those that the owners can no longer care for.  Without the support of the people of Guernsey we could not do our much needed animal welfare work.  We would like to thank everyone for their support and generosity.

We do realise that many people may have donated specifically to help Mr T and with him now reunited with his owner if anyone would like their donation back to please get in touch.  However we will ensure that all of the donations go towards the many other needy neglected and ill animals that we have brought in here at the GSPCA and you can find out about some of these on our web site each week www.gspca.org.gg

If anyone would like to donate to the shelter towards our much needed animal welfare work please do get in touch 01481 257261, call in or check out our paypal account www.gspca.org.gg/fundraising
