Today We Will Remember Them - Remembrance Day - Lest we forget - stories of animals who supported our armed forces & purple poppies

Every year at this time we remember the lost and fallen that have gone before us.

Today at the GSPCA the team will be respecting 2 minutes of silence as will many on this very special day.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Across Guernsey at 11am islanders will remember those who gave so much and there are so many animal stories of those that all gave all.”

Remembrance the kitten found on site at the GSPCA - please watch out for others in the St Andrews area

Submitted by Steve on 13:01, 10th Nov, 2014 | 0

Yesterday at the GSPCA we were kept very busy from loose horses to injured cats.

Not only were members of the GSPCA team helping animals in need around Guernsey on Remembrance Sunday, but there was one that needed helping on site at the Shelter in St Andrews.

Animal Care Assistant Sarah Ozanne and volunteer Fleur Pizzey were busy cleaning and feeding the animals in the outdoor runs when they could hear a lot of 'meows'.

It didn't seem to be coming from the cattery building so on investigating they spotted a young kitten in the fields at the Shelter.

Every year at this time we remember the lost and fallen that have gone before us. Remembrance Day (also known as Poppy Day, Armistice Day or Veterans Day) is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth countries to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty since World War I. This day, or alternative dates, are also recognized as special days for war remembrances in many non-Commonwealth countries. Share
