Appeal to find Peafowl Owners near Les Effards – Help Us Reunite These Birds
The GSPCA is issuing an appeal to locate the owners of a flock of peafowl that have recently taken up residence in a stable near Les Effards. While we are working closely with nearby peafowl owners, some of these birds appear to be strays and do not belong to the resident flock in the area.
This week Guernsey has seen its first new animal welfare laws in nearly a decade and this ironically coincided in a week where GSPCA Animal Welfare Manager Lorna Chadwick held training with many of the GSPCA team on Animal Welfare and Cruelty Investigations.
The GSPCA has a team of over 50 staff and over 800 volunteers helping ensure our work 24/7 365 days a year from rescuing sick and injured animals to investigating cruelty, calls to dogs in hots cars to the many other services we carry out which list is an extensive and ever growing list.
The GSPCA are appealing for information and witnesses after our warden was called out to retrieve the dead bodies of a number of guinea pigs that had been thrown into the bushes at the halfway bus stop. The scene very upsetting for the those who attended and we are just thankful that they weren't seen by children who would have found the sight extremely traumatic.
On Saturday 11th June 2023 at the GSPCA we received a report that someone had allegedly tried to run over gulls at the Charotterie.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “On Saturday 11th June around mid day we were informed a white car possibly a Fiat was driving up and down and hit possibly 2 gulls allegedly on purpose.”
“We attended and there was evidence of whole pieces of bread.”
“Any evidence or information please call 257261, email [email protected] and we have informed the authorities.”
