Amazing Cycling Challenge Raises Over £1,350 for Animal Charities
The GSPCA would like to say a huge thank you to local animal lover Ann Bowditch, who has completed an incredible cycling challenge from Land's End to John O'Groats, raising more than £1,350 for animal charities including the GSPCA and another local organisation that helps reunite lost pets with their owners.

Ann Bowditch tells us of her fund raiser ‘This is Jasper. As a kitten he had bad conjunctivitis and was going to be put to sleep by a big rescue. The smaller rescue I supported rescued him, nursed him to health and he came, with his best friend, Miss Tulip, to live with me.
The GSPCA and all the team and animals would like to say a massive thank you to Yasemin Pates who recently held a raffle fund raiser in aid of the GSPCA and Guernsey welfare.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “What a wonderful message we had recently from Yas Pates.”
“She messaged to let us know we was running a fund raising raffle and what a great night it must have been with over 50 prizes and raising an incredible £1351 in aid of the GSPCA and Guernsey Welfare.”
“From the pictures it looked like a fabulous evening with amazing prizes.”
Today Skipton Swimarathon posted ‘With just one month to go until this year’s Skipton Swimarathon, please make sure you don’t miss out and book your space today!
Last month at the GSPCA we posted this lovely plea for sponsorship and support for a very kind person wanting to support local charities –
‘Please Sponsor Alex Murrell’s Golf Challenge for GSPCA, the Guernsey Blind Association & Guernsey Alzheimer's Association
Alex Murrell is raising funds for the GSPCA, Guernsey Blind Association ( La Grande Mare Golf Club Mens Captain's charity) and Guernsey Alzheimer's Association. (Lady Captain's charity)
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “It is incredible the range of sponsored events people undertake to raise funds for our work at the GSPCA.”
“We have recently had the lovely story from Anaëlle and Maëlie who are just 8 and 10 years old.”
“We are incredibly grateful to both Anaëlle and Maëlie for undertaking such a kind act which not only raised an amazing £175 for the GSPCA, it will have helped save the lives of wildlife by removing rubbish from our coastline and helped the environment as a whole, all while making it a prettier place for us all to enjoy.”
The GSPCA would like to say a huge thanks to volunteer Karen Brozka for making cards and selling them to raise funds for our animal welfare work and the many animals in our care during lockdown.
Karen said “Hope you are well and managing to get through this challenging time.”
“As Baxter (my goldie) and I have not been able to go out and rattle the tin for you lately, I decided to do a little fund raising.”
“Not much, £100, but hopefully this will help towards hedgehog meals or a few runs at food etc.”
