On Sunday 7th April all day on Herm Island they are organising the Island charity dog walking day in aid of GSPCA.
Shell Beach kiosk will be serving ‘Herm-made’ soup and rolls, bacon butties & hot dogs from 9am-5pm with donations to the GSPCA.
Doggie treat bags also available.
They have said the more dogs the merrier and from the GSPCA we would like to thank them for organising this event and really hope you will support what should be a great day.
As anyone who has visited Herm will know it is a stunning and wonderful island to visit and for those who have taken their dog over will have enjoyed the scenic walks and friendly atmosphere.
The GSPCA are hugely grateful to Herm Island who for any booking in their cottages with a dog before the 31st December are donating £20 to help the many animals in our care.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Herm is such an incredible place to visit and as a family we have often taken our dogs over to enjoy the stunning walks and wonderful dog friendly locations on the island.”
On 22nd August a very poorly Barn Owl was rescued from a bin in Herm and brought over to Guernsey and care of the GSPCA.
Over the last 3 weeks the GSPCA team have been caring for the bird which was named ‘Blucher’.
Blucher after arrival was cared for in an intensive care unit and was very weak but after weeks of care was strong enough to go into an outer rehabilitation aviary.
When Blurcher was deemed fit enough for release an identification ring was placed of his leg and the trip back to Herm island was planned.
On the 16th April Herm Island ran a special dog walk in aid of the GSPCA.
Although the weather was a little wet dogs and their owners made their way to the stunning island of Herm to help raise funds for the many animals at the GSPCA.
Treats for all with were enjoyed for the two and four legged visitors and a fantastic £30 was raised on the day with further donations being raised as treats are on sale at the kiosk on Shell Beach in aid of the GSPCA.
The GSPCA would like to say a huge thank you to Herm Island and Jono Bailey who have recently helped us care for some of our trees on site at the GSPCA.
Jono is a tree surgeon and from Herm Island we kindly were able to borrow fuel and a chain saw.
Jono lived in Herm for over 20 years and also worked on the stunning and pretty island so many love to visit.
When Herm island heard about the work needing to be done at the GSPCA they wanted to help out and kindly allowed Jono to borrow the chainsaw.
