We are always looking for happy endings at the GSPCA and this week we’ve had two tortoise success stories.

Last week two stray tortoise were found one near Oatlands and another in St Saviour’s.

We advertised them both on our web site and social media and thanks to our facebook page both owners saw their beloved pets and contacted us and were shortly after reunited.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “It was lovely to reunite both tortoise with their owners Monroe as we called her was actually Charlie and Hugo was actually called Troy.”

“I popped by to see Charlie in his home earlier this week with the Guernsey Press and he had walked nearly a mile from his home to where he was found.”

“The owners of both tortoise were over joyed to be reunited and it really warms the heart that at the GSPCA we are able to help.”

“It’s always a good idea if you haven’t microchipped your tortoise to write your telephone number on their shell so if they do wander we can reunite them quickly with their owners.”

“We have 5 resident tortoise at the GSPCA and we rescue around 30 strays every year.”

“You can help us care for the many animals and tortoise at the GSPCA by becoming an Angel pen Pal Sponsor and for this you get a plaque at the Shelter, regular newsletters, a car sticker, certificate and more.”
